Hey, everyone! Do you know L. A. County's health officials are giving a heads-up to cat owners? They're asking us to steer clear of a specific brand of raw cat food. Why? Well, a cat in Oregon ate some and got sick with bird flu, and now health officials are worried about cats in L. A. County too.
This raw cat food they're talking about is Northwest Naturals Brand's 2-pound Feline Turkey Recipe. It's been sold in California and can be ordered online. The bags are plastic and say "best if used by" with dates of 05/21/26 B10 or 06/23/2026 B1. Health officials say if you've got this food, it's best to throw it away.
You should also keep an eye on your cats. If they've eaten raw meat or dairy and show signs like being super tired, losing their appetite, having a fever, breathing troubles, or even jaundice, give your vet a call right away.
Four cats in L. A. County have already fallen ill and died after eating recalled raw milk. Health officials are looking into three more cases from another home, but they're not sure if raw milk was the cause this time. They're checking other possibilities, like raw meat.
