Stay Indoors, Louisville! Ice and Snow Cause Road Chaos
LOUISVILLE, USASun Jan 05 2025
Louisville woke up to a winter wonderland on Sunday, but it wasn't all fun and games. A winter storm hit the area, leaving roads covered in snow and ice, making driving conditions pretty unsafe. Officials even asked people to avoid the roads if they could.
Things started to get real at around 9 a. m. when a crash closed down I-71 near the I-264 split. The road opened back up before 11 a. m. , but that was just the beginning.
At about 9:20 a. m. , a multi-vehicle crash shut down all lanes of I-64 west near I-265. Not long after, another crash on I-65 south near Crittenden Drive blocked two lanes.
In Oldham County, a single-vehicle crash closed the left shoulder and lane of I-71 south. And if that wasn't enough, at 11:45 a. m. , a crash closed all lanes of the I-264 west ramp to Newburg Road in Jefferson County.
