Steelers vs. Browns: A Quick Chat with the Enemy
Cleveland, USAThu Nov 21 2024
The Pittsburgh Steelers (8-2) are riding high after knocking off the Baltimore Ravens to secure sole possession of first place in their division. This week, they face the Cleveland Browns (2-8) on Thursday Night Football. To get some insights, we talked to Chris Pokorny from Dawgs By Nature. Here's what he had to say:
Initially, the Browns' struggles seemed to be on the quarterback, Deshaun Watson. His play was lackluster, and the team didn't score 20 points in any of his games. However, things changed when Jameis Winston stepped in. He's thrown for over 300 yards in two of his three games, showing a much-needed boost in quarterback performance. But the defense hasn't been consistent, which has been a letdown. The coaching staff has also faced criticism, particularly the hiring of Ken Dorsey as the offensive coordinator, whose strategies didn't align well with the team's strengths.
With Jameis Winston at the helm, the Browns' offense has looked more potent. He brings a presence that was missing with Watson. Winston's quick decision-making and anticipation have allowed receivers like Cedric Tillman to shine. Tillman, a second-year receiver, has seen a breakout performance in the last month, benefiting from the change in quarterback.
The Browns' defense still has its strengths, notably its ability to pressure the quarterback. However, other areas have regressed from last year's elite unit. Teams have figured out how to exploit their aggressive defense, leading to communication breakdowns and big plays.
As for the game, the Steelers are favored by 4. 5 points. But as anyone in the AFC North knows, anything can happen in this division.
