Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs' debut season with the Texans has come to a sudden halt. On Tuesday, head coach DeMeco Ryans revealed that Diggs has torn his ACL. The injury occurred during Sunday's match against the Colts, after which Diggs underwent further examinations.
Diggs joined the Texans from the Bills this offseason through a trade. He renegotiated his contract to become a free agent at the end of the season. Now, he faces the daunting task of recovering from a significant knee injury while planning for his next contract.
Diggs had been a key player for the Texans, with 47 catches, 496 yards, and three touchdowns under his belt in just eight games. His absence will leave a substantial void in the Texans' receiving corps, especially with Nico Collins currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
The Texans' depth at wide receiver has taken a hit. Tank Dell, John Metchie, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, and Steven Sims are the remaining receivers on the active roster. The team will need to find new strategies to fill the gap left by Diggs' injury.
