Pharrell Williams, the renowned singer-songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist, recently shared his thoughts on celebrity political endorsements. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams made it clear that he's not a fan of celebrities telling others how to vote. In fact, he gets annoyed when he sees stars trying to influence the political decisions of others.
Williams believes that every individual should form their own opinions and take charge of their own destiny. He proudly shares that he doesn't engage in political activism, instead focusing on more tangible actions that bring about positive change. For instance, he founded two non-profit organizations, YELLOW and Black Ambition, which work tirelessly to ensure education equality and support black and Hispanic entrepreneurs, respectively.
Rather than using his platform to push for a particular political agenda, Williams would rather focus on the issues that truly matter. He cares deeply about his community and the country, but he understands that there's still much work to be done. And for him, action speaks louder than words.
"Some people think, 'Oh, I'm going to use my platform to tell everyone who to vote for. ' And I'm like, 'What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you,'" Williams said in the interview. He went on to explain that while he respects opinionated celebrities, he thinks it's essential to let individuals make their own informed decisions.
