Storm Hits Annapolis, City Works to Restore Power and Clean Up
Annapolis, MD, USASun Jun 14 2026
Annapolis was hit by strong storms late Friday. Two families had to leave their homes after trees fell on them, but nobody was hurt.
The city sent crews to look at damage and clear fallen trees from streets. They worked all night and will keep working with the power company, BGE.
BGE said that about 800 customers were still without electricity at noon on Saturday. Some power stations were damaged, which explains the outage.
Mayor Jared Littmann talked with BGE officials about fixing the problem. He said it might take a while to get everything back to normal, but everyone is working together.
The Office of Emergency Management is leading the city’s response. The worst hit areas were West Annapolis and Admiral Heights.
DPW crews used “cut‑and‑toss” teams to remove trees from roads and get traffic moving again. They will keep clearing debris with BGE help.
Residents were warned not to touch downed power lines or branches that are near them. If it is safe, they can move small branches to the road so DPW can pick them up.
The city’s yard‑waste service will collect branches on regular pickup days, but the items must be bagged and not too big. More details can be found at www. annapolis. gov/877/Yard-Trim-Collection.
Planning and Zoning staff started checking properties on Saturday morning. Most reports said the damage was small.
The Annapolis Call Center is open at 410-260-2211 for non‑emergency storm questions.
