Stormy Skies and Changing Weather in Colorado
Colorado Springs, Monument, Palmer Lake, Peyton, Falcon, Air Force Academy, Pueblo, USAMon May 18 2026
A line of strong thunderstorms was spotted forming over Monument, Palmer Lake, Peyton, and Falcon on Sunday afternoon. These storms could bring gusty winds reaching 60 miles per hour and hail the size of quarters. The stormy weather might continue until after 7 p. m. , so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the sky.
In Colorado Springs, a few storms could shift south toward the Air Force Academy. These might bring heavy rain, lightning, and hail. If things get risky, weather alerts will flash at the bottom of TV screens. Meanwhile, cooler air is moving in from the northwest, bringing rain and thunderstorms to the Southeast Plains overnight. Temperatures will drop to the low to mid-40s, with a 30 to 60 percent chance of rain showers.
Monday will stay cool and breezy with more rain and thunder. Colorado Springs will see highs in the lower 50s, but areas south of Highway 50, like Pueblo, will be warmer and drier. The cool, wet pattern continues Tuesday through Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. However, next Memorial Day weekend looks better, with warmer and milder weather returning, hitting the upper 70s.
