Weather watchers are on high alert in Metro Detroit. A significant weather event is on the horizon, with the most intense activity expected between 5 p. m. and midnight. By 2:30 p. m. , the first batch of rain has moved out of Metro Detroit, but a second line is starting to move through. The severe weather threat has been lowered to a slight risk, which is a level 2 out of five. This change is due to the morning's showers and storms, which sucked up a lot of energy in the atmosphere. Flooding and strong winds remain a concern, with the possibility of hail and isolated tornadoes. Over the next couple of hours, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected.
