Stormy Weather Halts Bonnaroo 2025
Manchester, Tennessee, USA,Sat Jun 14 2025
The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, had to call it quits for 2025. The event started as planned on Thursday, but heavy rain on Friday forced organizers to postpone and ultimately cancel the rest of the weekend.
The festival app sent out a message saying, "We are beyond gutted, but safety comes first. We have to cancel the rest of Bonnaroo. " The organizers explained that the National Weather Service warned of heavy rain that would make camping and leaving the site dangerous. They asked for patience from the attendees, especially those with accessibility needs. They wanted to help those in rough camping spots leave safely first. Those with stable campsites or RVs were asked to stay the night and leave the next day. The festival grounds, known as "The Farm, " would stay open with food vendors and safety services running.
The cancellation was a tough blow. Organizers had put their hearts into making this year special. They promised to make things right with refunds and other steps. They thanked attendees for their understanding and spirit. The headliners for the year were supposed to be Tyler, the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hozier. Only Luke Combs, who performed on Thursday, got to play. His set included guest appearances by Miranda Lambert, Jon Bellion, and Marcus King. King's set was a highlight, paying tribute to Sly Stone and Brian Wilson, who both passed away that week. Other notable performances included Wisp, the Droptines, the Lemon Twigs, Die Spitz, Daniel Donato, and the Insane Clown Posse.
This is the second time in four years that Bonnaroo has been canceled due to weather. In 2021, heavy floods made the grounds unsafe before the festival even started. It's a reminder that outdoor events can be unpredictable. Organizers have to balance the excitement of the festival with the safety of the attendees. It's a tough call, but sometimes, Mother Nature has other plans. It's important for festival-goers to stay informed and be prepared for changes. Safety should always be the top priority.
