Let’s take a look at the Morandi Bridge collapse in Italy as an example of how communities can bounce back after trauma. The disaster wasn’t just about rebuilding infrastructure; it was about rebuilding a sense of community too. The Beyond the Bridge Project was involved in this process. We talked to the Project Lead Group for 10 consultations to see how community resilience could be handled better. We used tools like stakeholder analysis and ecological maps. These helped us figure out who was involved and how different groups worked together.
The stakeholders were grouped based on how they stepped up after the disaster. The ecological maps made it easier for these groups to communicate with each other. This teamwork is crucial for community resilience. Our findings suggest that this approach could be really helpful for future research in communities devastated by trauma.
