Students Get a Chance to Pick the Best Female Athlete of the Week

The school district is asking parents, teachers and students to decide who will be honored as the top female athlete for the week of March 9‑15. A live poll will run until 8 p. m. on Wednesday, and the winner will be revealed on the district’s Instagram the following morning. If you think a player should be considered, send an email to sports@democratandchronicle. com by 7 p. m. every Sunday. All girls who play for Section V teams are eligible, and the reporters have already picked the nominees. The finalists include:Hailey Barber, a bowler from Rush‑Henrietta, who won the state championship in Division I and averaged over 220 pins per game. Sofia Falleti, a basketball star from Batavia Notre Dame, who scored 23 points in a quarter‑final win. Loren Green of Aquinas, who dropped 30 points to help her team reach the state semifinals for the third year in a row. Ella Rogala, a senior from Our Lady of Mercy, who hit the winning three‑pointer in the last seconds to send her team past HFL. Your vote matters—pick the athlete you think deserves the title.
