Summer Fun Returns: Frankie’s Park Gets a Fresh Look
Charleston, SC, USASat Apr 18 2026
Frankie’s Fun Park, a beloved spot for families in North Charleston since 1990, is set to open its doors again this summer after a big makeover. The new design adds an 18, 875‑square‑foot arcade and upgrades the existing buildings, giving visitors more games and better food spots.
A highlight of the renovation is a brand‑new ride called Zero Gravity, which will also appear at the park’s other locations in Columbia, Greenville, Charlotte and Raleigh. Other fresh attractions include laser tag, bumper cars and indoor thrill rides that promise to keep kids and adults entertained.
The park’s owners, the Godley family, have kept the exact reopening date a secret and haven’t responded to media inquiries. The expansion shows their commitment to keeping the park modern while staying true to its family‑owned roots.
Beyond Frankie’s, Charleston is buzzing with summer events. Patriots Point is selling tickets for a fireworks show on the USS Yorktown, and the Black Food Truck Festival has earned national acclaim for its diverse food lineup. Mount Pleasant will host a fishing festival that honors local maritime traditions, complete with live music and craft displays.
The city’s cultural scene is thriving as well; the Charleston Museum has just been reaccredited by the American Alliance of Museums, a rare honor that signals its dedication to preserving regional history.
