Sun Power for Ukrainians: Crafting Portable Solar Panels
EAU CLAIRE, USAWed Oct 30 2024
In the heart of Wisconsin, students and community members at UW-Eau Claire gathered to make a difference. They weren't studying for exams or playing sports—they were building portable solar panels. The goal? To bring light and warmth to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
Ukraine faces harsh winters, and with infrastructure continually damaged by Russian bombings, access to electricity is a significant challenge. That's where the portable solar panels come in. They can be easily moved, providing daytime power and the flexibility to relocate if the situation worsens.
"We want them to know they’re not alone, " said Tom Bryan, a member of UW-Eau Claire’s Lutheran Church. The event was a testament to the global support for Ukraine, showing that people around the world are paying attention and care deeply about the situation.
The event highlighted the power of community efforts in addressing global issues. It was more than just an act of charity—it was a statement of solidarity and a practical solution to a pressing problem.
