Sunny Hostin, a co-host on ABC's The View, had some strong words for former President Donald Trump. She criticized his recent stunt of riding in a garbage truck and wearing reflective gear at his rally. Hostin called it a bit of trickery, or what some people call "gaslighting. " She urged Americans to see through this act.
Trump's stunt seemed like a response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's joke about Puerto Rico being a "floating island of garbage. " Current President Joe Biden had condemned the joke, calling it unacceptable and un-American. Some of Trump's supporters twisted Biden's words, saying he was calling Trump voters "garbage. "
Hostin pointed out that Trump can't just take a word and make it his own. He's the one who introduced that language at his rally with Hinchcliffe's joke. In fact, Trump has been calling America a "garbage can" in his recent speeches. Hostin wants Americans to remember who started using this kind of language.
