Taiwan Driver's Close Call with Typhoon Kong-rey

Being trapped in your car with a huge tree smashed onto the roof. That's exactly what happened to a Taiwanese ride-hailing driver, Song Zi-jie, during Typhoon Kong-rey. He had just finished a ride in Taipei and stopped at a red light when the tree crashed down. He was lucky to escape without injuries, but his car was badly damaged. The typhoon caused a lot of destruction in Taiwan, including landslides and blown-off roofs. Two people died, and many were injured.After hitting Taiwan, the typhoon weakened but still caused heavy rain and winds in Shanghai and nearby areas in China. Authorities in Zhejiang province evacuated people and set up emergency shelters. In Taiwan, a Czech couple who went missing while hiking were rescued. The typhoon also passed near the Philippines, causing fresh evacuations after a previous storm had killed many people.
