Taiwan Gets Advanced Missile System from the US

This includes an advanced surface-to-air missile system, called NASAMS. It's the first time Taiwan is getting this type of missile. China isn't happy about it, though. Taiwan's President, Lai Ching-te, has been working to strengthen their defenses since he took office. This is because China has been stepping up its military activities around Taiwan.NASAMS has been used in battles before, like in Ukraine. It will help Taiwan's army protect itself from air attacks. China did some war games last week, practicing how to block off key areas around Taiwan. They sent a lot of planes, ships, and other vehicles. This is all part of China's claim that Taiwan is their territory. The US has laws that say they should help Taiwan defend itself. That's why they're providing these weapons.
