Taiwan's Big Creative Fest: Money, Stories, and Global Dreams
Taipei, TaiwanWed Nov 06 2024
Taipei welcomed the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) this week with a spotlight on cash and opportunities. The event, running Nov. 5-8, aims to boost local and Asian creators to the global stage. Sue Wang, deputy minister at Taiwan's Ministry of Culture, shared her vision: "We're setting big goals for TCCF in the coming years. " The fest, hosted at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, is backed by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA).
A whopping NT7. 5 million ($235, 000) is up for grabs in the main project pitching event, noted Homme Tsai, TAICCA chair. "People will connect, saying 'show me the money, let's collaborate, '" Tsai predicted. Wang also emphasized the importance of money: "TCCF has grown from a small event to a top B2B global event, showing our commitment to content creation worldwide. "
Off-stage, TAICCA CEO Dr. Lu Jiun Wei discussed strategy. "We have great stories in Taiwan, but we need to improve storytelling. That's why we're inviting international collaborations, " he said.
Taiwan's film and TV scene has gained prominence in East Asia, thanks to government support and agencies like TAICCA. Multinational media groups are turning to Taiwan as working with Hong Kong and mainland China becomes tougher. Lu highlighted Taiwan's creative strengths, like BL and GL topics banned in China. "This diversity and creative freedom are Taiwan's strengths, " he said.
This year's TCCF features over 100 market booths and received submissions from over 600 projects across 50 countries.
