Taron Egerton's Honest Take on Skipping James Bond

United Kingdom, UKWed Jul 30 2025

Taron Egerton, the star of the "Kingsman" movies, has made it clear he won't be stepping into the role of James Bond anytime soon. Even though he's got experience playing a suave spy, he thinks he's not the right fit for the part.

"No, and I don't think I'm a good choice for it. I think I'm too messy for that."

Egerton's Perspective

Egerton, who's 35 and from Wales, has a lot of respect for the character and especially Daniel Craig's time as Bond. But he believes there are plenty of other young actors who would do a better job. He even thinks taking on the role would be a waste of his talents.

The Search for the Next Bond

Right now, the search for the next Bond is still on. The first movie since Amazon took over is starting to come together. Denis Villeneuve, the director of "Dune", is set to helm the project, and there's talk of a 2028 release. Insiders say Amazon is looking for a British actor under 30, with names like Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson floating around.

Egerton's Future Plans

But Egerton isn't ruling out doing something more mainstream in the future. He's currently promoting his new crime thriller "She Rides Shotgun". He mentioned that he's in a phase where he's focusing on projects that speak to him creatively. However, he's open to the idea that his feelings might change down the line.

The Weight of the Role

Taking on James Bond is a big deal, and Egerton knows it. He said,

"It's possibly not quite the thing that would make me happiest. I do think it's a big old undertaking, it kind of consumes your life, a role like that."
