Taylor Swift & Sabrina Carpenter Surprise New Orleans with 'Espresso' Duet

New Orleans, USASun Oct 27 2024
Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter treated fans to an unexpected performance in New Orleans last Saturday (Oct. 26). During The Eras Tour stop at Caesars Superdome, Swift mixed things up by singing a song by another artist. She chose Sabrina Carpenter's hit "Espresso, " much to the crowd's delight. Swift started by explaining she wanted to do something different during her acoustic set. "It's been stuck in my head, " she shared, referring to her choice to perform another artist's song. She played "Espresso" on her guitar and then had a fun idea. "Is it OK if I call her, and you guys can say hi? " she asked the audience, pulling out her phone. The phone call turned out to be a playful act. Swift put Carpenter on speaker, held the phone to the mic, and asked how long it would take for Carpenter to get to the stadium. To everyone's surprise, Carpenter appeared on stage within seconds. They performed a three-song mashup that included Swift's "Is It Over Now? " and Carpenter's "Please Please Please. " One of the highlights of the night was Swift singing the "Espresso" lyric "I’m working late ‘cause I’m a singer" to a packed stadium as it approached 11 p. m. "She has literally one day off. She is on tour. This is crazy that she came to perform for us, " Swift said after their duet. Carpenter left the stage, and Swift finished the acoustic section alone at the piano, playing a mashup of "Hits Different" and "Welcome to New York. "
