Teacher Students at Risk of Burnout: What the Study Reveals
PolandTue Apr 28 2026
Polish students who are preparing to become teachers were examined to spot early signs that they might face burnout or health problems later in their careers.
The researchers used a tool called the AVEM inventory, which looks at how people handle work and what habits they develop.
Two particular patterns were highlighted: one where a student pushes themselves too hard, and another where they feel stuck and give up trying to improve.
The study shows that students who fall into the “too ambitious” group often feel exhausted and stressed because they set unrealistically high goals.
Those in the “resigned” group tend to believe that their efforts won’t change anything, which can lead to a sense of helplessness and depression.
These findings suggest that universities should start checking students’ coping styles early on.
If a student shows signs of either pattern, counselors can offer support to manage expectations and build resilience.
The goal is to keep future teachers healthy, motivated, and ready for the challenges of classroom life.
