Tech Confidence, Fed Caution, and No Rate Cuts
Across the business outlook, the mood is cautious but not gloomy. People currently seem to think the Federal Reserve will not cut rates in the expected period. That is the strongest shared view. It also pushes against the idea that a planned rate cut, or the broader set of expected cuts, will happen.
Macro worries look weaker than stock-market confidence. People currently seem to think a United States recession will not happen by the relevant period. At the same time, expectations are much more bullish on NVIDIA than on other giant companies. NVIDIA is favored to have the biggest global market value, while Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet, Tesla, and Saudi Aramco are strongly rejected for that role.
OpenAI is another area where expectations run against lower or narrower valuation outcomes. People do not seem to expect its market value to fall below a set level. They also do not expect it to sit inside the stated middle ranges. This is tied to its IPO market close. For the biggest IPO by market cap, the picture is less settled. OpenAI is overwhelmingly not favored, while SpaceX is divided, with a slight lean against it.
The disagreement is clearest around SpaceX. It shows that high-profile private companies do not command the same level of agreement. It is worth asking whether confidence is concentrated in a small group of names. The broader business mood favors stability, rate restraint, and a strong technology leader, but it is not evenly spread across every major name.
