Cambridge, USAFri Oct 25 2024
Greg Epstein, a chaplain for over 20 years, is on a mission to make us rethink our relationship with technology. He calls himself a "Tech Agnostic" and wants us to be the same. His new book, "Tech Agnostic, " dives into how technology has become like a religion, with its own beliefs and promises. But are these promises real? Epstein thinks not. He's seen how tech can be addictive, both in his own life and at MIT where he works. He wants us to question tech's claims, like the idea that social media brings us closer. He's not against tech, but he wants us to be smarter users. He hopes his book will help us do that.
Epstein has been talking about these ideas for a long time. In his first book, "Good Without God, " he explored morality and community. Now, he's turning his lens on tech. He sees how it's like other religions, with unproven claims. He wants us to use our critical thinking skills here too. He believes we should ask if tech's promises are true and if what we're doing with it is really helping us and others.
