On Monday, a 15-year-old boy from Fall City, Washington, was charged with five counts of aggravated murder for allegedly killing his parents and three of his siblings. This tragic event has left the community in shock. The boy attempted to shift the blame onto his 13-year-old brother, but his 11-year-old sister, who survived the attack by playing dead, revealed the truth to the authorities.
The girl told investigators that the accused had been in trouble at school for failing tests and knew the combination to the lock box where their father stored his handgun. She also mentioned that the teen was the only one among the children who knew the code.
The victims have been identified as Sarah Humiston, 42, Mark Humiston, 43, and their children Katheryn Humiston, 7, Joshua Humiston, 9, and Benjamin Humiston, 13. The teen called 911 around 5 am on Monday, claiming his younger brother was responsible for the shootings because he had been caught looking at pornography.
However, a neighbor called 911 a few minutes later, reporting that the 11-year-old had run to their home, saying her 15-year-old brother had shot their family. The girl had played dead to escape and then sought help. Deputies found the bodies inside the home and detained the 15-year-old in the driveway.
Mark Humiston, the father, worked as an electrical engineer at Hargis Engineers in Seattle. The company expressed their shock and sadness over the loss of a valued colleague and his family. They emphasized Mark's leadership and vision within the firm.
The teen, who has no prior criminal history, is scheduled to appear in court on Friday. His defense attorneys have not yet commented on the charges.
