Teen Musician Faces More Jail Time for Anti-Government Songs

St. Petersburg, RussiaTue Nov 11 2025

In Russia, an 18-year-old musician named Diana Loginova, known on stage as Naoko, has been given another 13 days in jail. This is not her first time in trouble. She has been in and out of jail for singing songs that criticize the Russian government. Her band, Stoptime, performs covers of songs by artists who have left Russia because of their political views.

First Arrest

Loginova's first arrest happened last month. She was singing a song called "Swan Lake Cooperative" by Noize MC, a rapper who is now living outside of Russia. The song became popular online, but it also got her into trouble. The song is banned because it mentions "Swan Lake," a famous ballet that some people in Russia see as a symbol of political change.

The authorities did not like that she sang this song. They also did not like that she sang another song called "You Are a Soldier" by Monetochka, another artist who has left Russia. For this, she was fined a lot of money and given more jail time. The authorities say that her actions are against the law and disrupt public order.

Government Crackdown

Since Russia's military actions in Ukraine started in 2022, the government has been strict about what people can say. They believe that everyone should support the country's actions and not criticize them. Loginova's case is one of many where people have been punished for speaking out against the government.

Loginova's Beliefs

Loginova is a music student. She believes in the power of music to make a difference. Even though she has not made any direct political statements, her actions have gotten her into trouble. A court has even banned the song she sang, saying it could encourage people to change the government in a violent way.
