Iran is facing a serious water shortage. The country has not seen such a long dry spell in 60 years. A water expert, Rama Habibi, shared this news. He works for the Tehran Regional Water Company. He said that for five years in a row, there has been very little rain. Last year, Tehran got 48 millimeters of rain. This year, it only got 1. 9 millimeters. That is a huge drop. The long-term average is also much lower than usual. This dry weather is affecting dams across Iran. The Karkheh Dam, one of the biggest in the region, had to stop making electricity. The water level is too low. Other dams, like Karaj and Latian, are also running low. Cities like Mashhad, Kerman, and Yazd are struggling. Some places are even rationing water. Farmers are leaving their land because there is no water for their crops. Experts are worried. If this keeps up, Tehran could face serious water problems in the next 10 years. Right now, the water in the dams is only about one-third of what it should be. Some provinces are already feeling the strain. Mashhad has started full rationing. Kerman has fields that are no longer being farmed. This is not just a short-term problem. The rain is not coming back like it used to. The water is leaving the dams faster than it is coming in. This is a big deal. It is not just about having enough water to drink. It is about having enough water for farms, electricity, and daily life.
