Tesla recently shared a video showing its Optimus robots navigating a facility, charging, and even handing out drinks to employees. This comes after their "We, Robot" event last week, where the robots seemed to impress the crowd by dancing and interacting with attendees. However, it was later revealed that these robots were being remotely controlled by employees. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, had claimed that the robots were part of an ambitious project aiming to create personal robots like R2-D2 or C-3PO from Star Wars.The revelation of remote operation sparked discussion among analysts and tech enthusiasts. Gene Munster from Deepwater Asset Management and tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee both expressed surprise, as they weren't initially informed about the teleoperation. Milan Kovac, who leads the Optimus project, acknowledged the use of human assistance but insisted it was to showcase the company's vision of the future. Teleoperation isn't new—it's been around since the 1940s. Tesla has often used it to make its Optimus robots appear more advanced than they currently are. Despite this, Kovac mentioned that the robots are starting to learn how to interact with humans, indicating progress in their development.
