Texas Politician Turned Anime Composer
Nathan Johnson, now the elected Texas attorney general, previously worked as a composer for the English dub of Dragon Ball Z. He created the music while caring for a one‑year‑old child who loved the show.
He scored all 67 episodes plus five movies, including The World’s Strongest, The Tree of Might, Broly – Second Coming, Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon. His tracks played when Frieza first appeared, when Vegeta beat Nappa, and when the afterlife realm was revealed.
Johnson won a seat in the state senate in 2018. Two years later he joined the 2023 impeachment trial of former attorney general Ken Paxton. His experience in the trial showed he could handle high‑stakes political battles.
Some people say his work on epic anime scores may have helped Democrats win every statewide office. The excitement of battle music could have energized voters and reminded them of perseverance. Whether or not the connection is real, his unique past remains a notable part of his story.
