Texas Steps into the Spotlight: A New Film Studio Rises in Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas, USA,Fri Aug 15 2025

A New Giant in the Film Industry

A huge film studio is now operational in Fort Worth, Texas. This new venture, SGS Studios, is a joint project with Paramount Television, the powerhouse behind hit shows like Yellowstone. The studio spans an impressive 450,000 square feet, enough space for more than seven large grocery stores.

Texas Expands Its Film and TV Presence

This isn't the only film project in Texas. Other production sites, such as the one in Midlothian where The Chosen is filmed, highlight the state's growing film industry. David Glasser, a top executive at 101 Studios, emphasizes that this new studio sends a strong message to the global film industry: Texas is a major player.

Attracting Hollywood with Incentives

Texas is aggressively pursuing more film and TV productions by offering substantial incentives to attract Hollywood investments. This push is part of a broader strategy to create jobs and diversify the economy, which has traditionally relied on energy and transportation.

Competing with Film Hubs

While Texas competes with established film hubs like Georgia and California, Glasser notes that other studios are showing interest in setting up shop in Texas.

A Strategic Location at AllianceTexas

The new studio is located at AllianceTexas, a massive complex in Fort Worth and Denton. It houses major companies like Amazon, FedEx, and Meta, along with residential and retail spaces. AllianceTexas already hosts Merit Street Media, the production studio behind Dr. Phil.

A Three-Year Journey to Success

Securing a major Hollywood studio in Texas wasn't quick. Mike Berry, President of Hillwood, reveals it took about three years. The breakthrough came when they noticed Taylor Sheridan, the creator of Yellowstone, was filming extensively in the area. They then connected with David Glasser, who was seeking additional sound-stage space.

questions

How does the competition among states for film and television investments impact the quality and diversity of content produced?
Are the incentives offered by Texas to attract Hollywood investments a cover for something more sinister, like a secret government project?
Will the studio's location in AllianceTexas mean that all future films will have a mandatory 'Texas-sized' BBQ scene?
