Thanksgiving's Dark Shadow: The Real Cost of Political Divide
Plymouth, USAWed Nov 26 2025
This Thanksgiving, hundreds of immigrants will not be gathering around a warm table. Instead, they will be locked up in a Massachusetts jail, far from their families and the lives they have built. These individuals came to the U. S. seeking safety, just like the pilgrims did centuries ago. They have been working, paying taxes, and waiting for their asylum cases to be processed. But now, they are being treated as criminals, all because of a political agenda that paints immigrants as a threat.
The idea that immigrants are dangerous is a lie. It's a tactic used to stir up fear and divide people. In reality, most immigrants are just trying to build a better life, just like anyone else. But this lie has gained traction, especially in political circles. It's been used to justify harsh policies and actions, like the one that has led to these innocent people being locked up.
Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time of unity and gratitude. It's a holiday that celebrates the blending of cultures and the spirit of acceptance. But in recent years, it's become a time of division. Families and friends have been torn apart by heated arguments over politics. And now, the holiday itself is under attack. The spirit of Thanksgiving is being replaced by fear, intolerance, and cruelty.
This is not what the U. S. stands for. The country was built on the idea of freedom and opportunity for all. But right now, it's hard to see that ideal reflected in the actions of the government. Instead, we see a government that is ruled by fear and intolerance. A government that is willing to lock up innocent people to score political points.
But it doesn't have to be this way. The public has the power to change this. By speaking out, by putting pressure on elected officials, and by standing up for what's right, we can make a difference. We can bring back the spirit of Thanksgiving. We can bring back the idea of a country that is fair, just, and welcoming to all.
But we need to act now. Because if we don't, the U. S. will continue down this dark path. And the next Thanksgiving, even more innocent people will be locked up, far from their families and the lives they have built.
