The 2025 NFL Combine: Offensive Line Stars
Indianapolis, USAMon Mar 03 2025
The 2025 NFL Combine wrapped up with a bang on Day 4, focusing on the offensive line. This group is crucial for any team, and the Detroit Lions know this well. They've got big names like Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker, but they're also looking for more depth, especially with Kevin Zeitler possibly leaving and Graham Glasgow getting older. Christian Mahogany is a solid guard, but they need someone to pair with him.
The Combine featured some impressive prospects. Will Campbell from LSU and Armand Membou from Missouri were standouts, but they might be picked before the Lions get a chance. However, there were others who could fit well with Detroit. Kelvin Banks Jr. from Texas has the size of a tackle but moves like a guard. He's strong and agile, making him a great fit for tight spaces. Josh Conerly Jr. from Oregon is another versatile player with impressive speed and balance. He could be a natural left guard for the Lions.
Tyler Booker from Alabama had a great showing despite a slower 10-yard split. He's got fantastic lateral movement and balance, making him a strong candidate for an immediate starter. Grey Zabel from North Dakota State showed off his lateral movement and power, even though he didn't run due to an injury. He's versatile and could play all three interior spots. Donovan Jackson from Ohio State showed toughness but got injured during a drill. Tate Ratledge from Georgia proved to be more athletic than expected, showing great lateral movement and balance.
Jonah Savaiinaea from Arizona had a strong performance with great balance and speed. Marcus Mbow from Purdue showed fluid movement and quick adjustments. Wyatt Milum from West Virginia is a bit of a mystery. He's got the size for a tackle but moves like a guard. Joshua Gray from Oregon State moved inside from tackle to guard and did well, showing solid lateral movement and power.
Jalen Rivers from Miami looks more like a tackle but moved smoothly as a guard. Miles Frazier from LSU showed good speed and technique. Miles Hinton from Michigan has a large frame but moves smoothly, reminding some of Halapoulivaati Vaitai. Drew Kendall from Boston College is a natural center with great movement in both directions. John Williams from Cincinnati caught attention with his aggressive movements and quick lateral speed.
The offensive line is a key position in the NFL. The Lions have some big names, but they need to keep investing in depth. The Combine showed some promising prospects who could fit well with Detroit. The future of the Lions' offensive line looks bright with these potential new additions.
