The 2026 Golden Globes: What You Need to Know

The Golden Globes, a big deal in the entertainment world, are coming up soon. This event celebrates the best in movies, TV, and now even podcasts. The awards are decided by a group of international journalists. This year, the ceremony is adding a new category for podcasts, making it the third new addition since 2024. Paul Thomas Anderson's movie "One Battle After Another" is leading the nominations with nine nods. It's up for best comedy/musical, best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, and best actress for Chase Infiniti. On the TV side, HBO's "The White Lotus" got six nominations, while Netflix's "Adolescence" scored five. The best drama movie category includes "Sentimental Value, " "Sinners, " "Hamnet, " "It Was Just an Accident, " "Frankenstein, " and "The Secret Agent. " For best comedy/musical, the contenders are "One Battle After Another, " "Marty Supreme, " "Bugonia, " "Blue Moon, " "No Other Choice, " and "Nouvelle Vague. "The 83rd Annual Golden Globes, also called "Hollywood’s Party of the Year, " will happen on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The ceremony has been held at this historic venue for over 40 years. The show will air live from 8-11 p. m. ET / 5-8 p. m. PT on the CBS Television Network. It will also be available to stream on Paramount+ for Premium plan subscribers, with Essential subscribers able to watch it the next day. Before the main event, there's a new primetime special called "Golden Eve" on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8 p. m. ET/PT on CBS. This special will feature the Cecil B. DeMille Award going to Helen Mirren and the Carol Burnett Award to Sarah Jessica Parker. Comedian and actor Nikki Glaser will host the 2026 Golden Globes for the second year in a row. Glaser has expressed excitement about returning, joking about her hopes to be cast in "The White Lotus. " The list of presenters and performers for the ceremony is yet to be announced.
