Sat Nov 30 2024
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a beloved holiday tradition, hit a new milestone this year. It attracted a whopping 31. 3 million viewers across NBC and Peacock. The live broadcast on NBC alone drew 23. 6 million people, making it one of the most-watched entertainment specials on linear TV since 2020. This is a 10% increase from last year. The parade, known for its marching bands, Broadway performances, and giant inflatable balloons, is a perfect way to start the holiday season. Streaming hours on Peacock also saw a 26% boost. It's a big deal in the post-pandemic era.
NBC executives are thrilled. Jen Neal, an executive vice president, said the parade is a tradition unlike any other. Will Coss, the parade's executive producer, added that Macy's is proud to bring this iconic experience to life. The high viewership also helped other Thanksgiving Day shows on NBC, like the National Dog Show and a special edition of "Sunday Night Football. " Even late-night shows hosted by Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers saw a boost in viewers. The parade is produced by Silent House Productions.
