Jill Dillard, a former star of the reality series “19 Kids and Counting, ” released her first public statement after her brother’s arrest. She expressed sympathy for the child victim and called for justice, saying that “our hearts go out to the innocent juvenile victim of this unspeakable crime and her family. ” The charges against Joseph Duggar, 31, stem from an alleged incident that took place six years ago during a family vacation in Florida. According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, he is accused of molesting a nine‑year‑old girl and engaging in lewd behavior with someone under 12. The family, surprised by the news that came through media coverage, shared a statement on their website. They declared they were “shocked and heartbroken” and reiterated that abuse is unacceptable. The statement also urged the legal system to deliver justice and offered prayers for the victim’s healing.Law enforcement reports detail that the girl, now 14, told authorities she was touched inappropriately on several occasions. The allegations include being asked to sit on his lap, sitting next to him on a couch under a blanket, and other physical contacts that the sheriff’s office described as “manipulated the victim’s underwear” and “grazed her genitals. ” The family’s son reportedly apologized later, and the incidents stopped. The girl’s father confronted Joseph on Tuesday, after which he admitted his actions to the victim’s dad and to detectives. The Duggar household, once highlighted on TLC for its large family, has long been under scrutiny. The show aired from 2008 to 2015 and ended when the eldest son, Josh Duggar, was revealed to have molested several siblings.
