The goal was to see what factors make them more or less likely to experience vicarious trauma. The results were surprising. Social support, empathy, and even the number of cases handled didn't seem to make a big difference. Neither did using substances to cope. But the study is important. It shows that vicarious trauma might affect forensic psychologists differently than other mental health professionals. The study also points out that we need better ways to measure vicarious trauma. Future research should look at other types of forensic evaluators too. This could help us understand the problem better and find ways to support these professionals.
