In today’s digital age, online learning has become a standard in higher education. But with this shift, there’s a growing issue of low student engagement in virtual classrooms. A recent study took a closer look at how college students' proactive personalities might influence their participation in online courses. The research focused on positive emotions and learning motivation as key factors. The study conducted a survey among 1049 college students to understand these factors better. The results? Students who naturally took the initiative showed higher online learning engagement. This was partly because they felt more positive emotions and had stronger learning motivation. In fact, positive emotions also boosted their motivation to learn. Amazingly, the combination of these factors—positive emotions and learning motivation—strengthened the link between a proactive personality and engagement in online learning.
