The Mystery Drones: Why New York and New Jersey Need Advanced Tech
New York City, USATue Dec 17 2024
Lately, strange drones have been flying over New York and New Jersey, leaving residents puzzled. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer from New York wants the Department of Homeland Security to step in with special tech from a company called Robin Radar Systems. This tech is no ordinary drone detector. It can spot drones from all angles, not just straight ahead like normal radar.
Robin Radar Systems is based in the Netherlands and known for making radars that track not just drones, but also birds and water levels. They even helped create an eco-friendly wind farm in the North Sea. Their latest project? A super advanced weather radar.
In October 2023, Robin joined a group to build the most advanced weather radar ever. This radar can track how clouds move and grow, which is great news for weather prediction.
The Dutch military trusts Robin's tech so much that they bought 51 drone radars and sent them to Ukraine to help with the war effort. These radars can move with vehicles or ships, making them super useful in any situation.
So, why do New York and New Jersey need this tech? Well, these mystery drones have been flying around for weeks, and nobody knows who's controlling them. The Pentagon says they're not theirs. Schumer wants to give local cops the tools they need to figure out what's going on.
Governor Phil Murphy from New Jersey is also on the case. He met with state police and radar experts to find answers. The public deserves to know who's behind these drones.
