The Rams' Returning Receivers: A Game-Changer
Los Angeles, USASat Oct 26 2024
The Los Angeles Rams' offense got a significant boost with the return of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although they didn't play as much as usual, their presence made a huge difference. Matthew Stafford and the team's offense benefited greatly from their contributions.
The wide receiver rotation saw some changes. Tutu Atwell, who had been playing a lot, took a step back and saw only nine snaps. Demarcus Robinson played the most snaps among receivers with 61, even though he was targeted only twice. Kupp played 42 snaps, and Nacua played 41. Both were rotating in and out as they worked their way back into game shape. Tyler Johnson played 27 snaps, while Atwell's role was significantly reduced.
At tight end, the rotation was more balanced than before. Colby Parkinson led with a 64% snap share, but Hunter Long and Davis Allen also played meaningful snaps. The Rams used more two-tight-end sets, which helped the run game.
In the backfield, Kyren Williams played his usual number of snaps, with Blake Corum playing the other 11%. Corum is the clear RB2, but he's not threatening Williams' workload.
On defense, Quentin Lake and Darious Williams played every snap for the second week in a row. Cobie Durant replaced Ahkello Witherspoon at the No. 2 cornerback spot, playing almost every snap. Christian Rozeboom had a bigger role with Troy Reeder out due to injury.
Byron Young and Jared Verse saw similar playing time at edge rusher, with Verse playing slightly more. Michael Hoecht also played a significant role. Along the defensive line, Kobie Turner played the most snaps, while Braden Fiske's role has been limited. Bobby Brown III, Tyler Davis, and Neville Gallimore saw varying amounts of playing time.
