For years, people have wondered who is behind the creation of Bitcoin. In 2008, a mysterious figure named "Satoshi Nakamoto" published a white paper about this digital currency. Nobody knows if Satoshi is one person or many. Now, an HBO documentary aims to unmask this anonymous creator.
Director Cullen Hoback is tackling another big mystery with his new film. He previously tried to solve the identity of Q, from the QAnon cult. In his last documentary, he pointed at someone named Ron Watkins as possibly being Q. This time, he's looking into who Satoshi Nakamoto might be.
Some people believe that Bitcoin wasn't created by an individual but rather by a government agency. One popular theory suggests it was the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). However, there isn't much proof to support this idea. A simpler guess is that the National Security Agency (NSA) could be behind it because they employ many mathematicians and are experts in cryptography.
Why would a government agency want to create digital money? Maybe to fund secret operations overseas, according to some theories. The documentary "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery" will air on Max starting October 8. Let's see if it sheds any light on this ongoing mystery.
