The Speed Limit Enigma: Why Enforcement Matters

Texas, USATue Sep 17 2024
Driving on a highway with no speed limit signs, no traffic police, and no restrictions. Sounds chaotic, right? Yet, this is the reality for many drivers in Dallas, where speed limits are often ignored. The Texas Department of Transportation has recently lowered speed limits on several roads in the area, but without enforcement, this move is mere lip service. As an elderly driver, I can attest that reaction times are crucial on the road. Unfortunately, with speeds reaching 100 mph or higher, it's a miracle there haven't been more accidents. The Dallas Police Department is severely understaffed, making it challenging to keep up with traffic enforcement. A separate division dedicated to traffic law enforcement could be the solution. Enforcement is key to ensuring speed limits are effective. Without it, drivers will continue to disregard these crucial safety measures. As we move forward, it's essential to prioritize road safety and find creative solutions to address this issue.
