In a shocking turn of events, Seattle was shaken by a series of random stabbings over two days, resulting in nine people being injured. The assailant, one person according to police, struck in the Chinatown-International District, targeting people seemingly without reason. On Friday afternoon alone, five people were stabbed in a four-block area. Witnesses quickly alerted the authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspect, who was found with a weapon nearby. Four victims were rushed to Harborview Medical Center, all in critical condition. Two of them remained critical, while one improved to serious and another to satisfactory.
Police suspect the same individual is behind similar attacks that started early on Thursday. A 52-year-old woman was the first victim, found with multiple stab wounds. This was followed by a 32-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, each stabbed multiple times. A 53-year-old man was also injured early on Friday. Interestingly, a separate incident on Thursday night involved a cellphone robbery where a 60-year-old man was cut. This, however, might not be related to the other attacks.
Police Deputy Chief Eric Barden reassured the public, stating that all victims were still alive. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the Thursday night incident is linked to the other stabbings.
