The White House's Festive Makeover for 2025

The White House is decked out for the holidays, showcasing a theme that emphasizes the warmth and unity of home. This year's decorations, chosen by the first lady, are a mix of classic and creative touches. The Green Room, for instance, has been turned into a playful space with Lego portraits of George Washington and the current president, along with games like dominoes. The State Dining Room features a massive gingerbread house replica of the White House, weighing in at 120 pounds. It's a sweet sight, but don't get any ideas—it's not for eating. The Blue Room is home to the main Christmas tree, a towering concolor fir from Michigan, adorned with gold stars and state symbols. The decorations also pay tribute to military families and the upcoming 250th anniversary of the country. The East Room is filled with patriotic colors and symbols, while the Red Room is a vibrant display of 10, 000 butterflies, honoring foster care children. The Green Room also features Lego puzzles of presidents, adding a fun twist to the traditional portraits. However, the White House tours have been scaled back due to construction. The East Wing is undergoing a major renovation to make way for a new ballroom. Visitors will now enter through the North Portico and won't be able to see the ground floor rooms like the Vermeil Room and the library.
