Linda McMahon, chosen by President-elect Donald Trump to lead the Department of Education, is facing a lawsuit that alleges she and her husband, Vince, let a WWE employee sexually exploit children for decades. The lawsuit claims that Melvin Phillips Jr. , a ringside announcer, used his job to attract and abuse young boys. The lawsuit says that Linda McMahon, as CEO of WWE, knew about this abuse but did nothing to stop it. Phillips is accused of filming these acts and performing them in front of other employees. Five men, who were teens at the time, are suing McMahon and WWE for emotional and mental harm.
They say McMahon neglected her duty to protect them. McMahon denies the allegations, calling them false and baseless. This isn't the first time accusations of abuse have surfaced in the WWE, with Phillips' actions reported as early as 1992. Despite being fired and rehired, Phillips continued his alleged abuse with the McMahons' knowledge. No criminal charges have been filed. The lawsuit is possible due to the Maryland Child Victims Act, which removes time limits for some child abuse cases.
