Renowned security expert Mike Barbieri thinks a well-organized South American crime ring might be behind the burglaries at NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce's homes. Kelce lost about $20, 000 in cash, and his back door was damaged. Meanwhile, Mahomes' mansion in Belton, Missouri, was hit first around midnight on October 6. The following day, Kelce's home in Leawood, Kansas, was targeted around 7:33 PM. Interestingly, the Chiefs had a "Monday Night Football" game against the Saints on October 7. The FBI is assisting local law enforcement due to fears this could be part of a larger operation. Mahomes, who bought his mansion in 2020, said the situation was "frustrating" and "disappointing. " He and his teammate, Kelce, stayed at a Kansas City hotel after the break-ins, per a report. Kelce recently bought his mansion to get more privacy amid his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift. The robbers also struck another home in the area, stealing over $500, 000 in jewelry. A video of this robbery was released by Fox 4. Barbieri, who has security experience in over 20 countries, called the operation "sophisticated, " adding that public figures' information can easily be found online. The Leawood Police Department stated they wouldn't comment on an ongoing investigation but assured their commitment to solving cases and maintaining the city's safety.
