Three Must-Watch Movies in April 2025
Sacramento, California, USAMon Mar 24 2025
April 2025 is shaping up to be a month with a diverse range of films. There is a lot of anticipation for a couple of big-budget films. However, there are some other films that are getting a lot of buzz. These films are not the typical blockbusters, but they have unique stories and talented casts. They might not have the biggest budgets, but they have a lot of potential to be great movies.
First up is Freaky Tales, hitting theaters on April 4. This movie is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who also directed Captain Marvel. Freaky Tales is set in 1980s Oakland and features a large cast of characters. The story is split into four interconnected chapters, each focusing on different underdogs. The trailer for this movie has been getting a lot of attention, with its 1980s-inspired synths and Pedro Pascal's memorable line. It has been over a year since Freaky Tales premiered at Sundance, so fans are eager to see if it lives up to the hype.
Next is Sacramento, a buddy comedy that will be in theaters on April 11. This film stars Michael Cera, Micael Angarano, Maya Erskine, and Kristen Stewart. The story follows two estranged friends, Glenn and Rickey, who go on a road trip to Sacramento. Rickey's father recently passed away, and he wants to spread his ashes with Glenn by his side. Along the way, Rickey tries to win over a woman named Tallie. Sacramento seems like a heartfelt comedy that will resonate with 30-somethings who are dealing with anxiety and the challenges of adulthood.
Finally, there is Neighborhood Watch, set to release on April 25. This crime thriller stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid. The story revolves around a young man who thinks he witnesses an abduction, but the police do not believe him. He turns to his retired security guard neighbor for help in finding the missing woman. As of now, there is no trailer for this movie, but the synopsis and stills of the stars have been released. It will be interesting to see how this film turns out, as it has the potential to be a gripping thriller.
March was a tough month for the box office. While Mickey 17 received critical acclaim, it is expected to lose a significant amount of money. Novocaine and Black Bag were solid B-movies, but they did not attract many theatrical audiences. Disney is hoping that Snow White will bring families back to the theaters. April does not have too many big-budget blockbusters, but there are still plenty of films to look forward to. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Alex Garland’s Warfare are two highly anticipated films that will be released this month. Additionally, there will be a sci-fi anthology, a buddy comedy, and a crime thriller to choose from.
