Tierra Whack and Danny Ocean Team Up for Good Causes
Philadelphia, USASun Oct 06 2024
Outdoor clothing company Cotopaxi has teamed up with rapper Tierra Whack and Venezuelan artist Danny Ocean to support causes they care about. For Whack, that's music education in her hometown of Philadelphia. She'll be working with a local non-profit called Fam Frequency and visiting schools to talk about the importance of education. "It’s all about inspiring young artists," she said. "Showing them they can turn their art into a career while staying true to themselves. "
Ocean is using his platform to draw attention to the refugee crisis in Venezuela. He explained, "The dictatorship there has robbed resources and forced people to flee for a better future. Cotopaxi gets that this is important to me. "
Both artists believe their voices can make a difference. Whack said, "We’ve got a platform that reaches people in ways most can't. It's our duty to use it for good. "
Based in Salt Lake City, Cotopaxi donates 1% of its revenue to help communities facing poverty. They focus on making products that are ethical, sustainable, and durable. Right now, 96% of their products are made with leftover materials or recycled stuff.
This isn't just about clothes for Cotopaxi; they're also partnering with the Global Citizen Festival this Saturday. It's happening in Central Park, New York City, and features performances from Post Malone, Doja Cat, LISA, Rauw Alejandro, and Jelly Roll. These are their first steps into music.
