Tiger Woods has decided to step away from the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. This decision comes after the death of his mother. The tournament was supposed to be his first official PGA Tour event since the summer of 2022. The tournament location was changed from Riviera Country Club because of a recent fire in the area. Tiger's mother, Kultida, died last Tuesday at the age of 80. Tiger Woods said that he is not ready to play and that he is still dealing with her loss. He planned to play but ultimately decided not to. He said that he hoped to be at Torrey later in the week but that he needed more time to process his mother's passing. Tiger Woods had been preparing for the event and had even played golf with President Donald Trump on Sunday. He said that he knows his mother would have wanted him to play but that he is not ready. Tiger Woods is known for his strength and determination but even he needs time to heal. Tiger Woods has had back surgeries before. This is not the first time that his health has affected his golf career. Tiger Woods has been through a lot and has shown that he is capable of overcoming adversity.
