Top Marvel Rivals Tanks: Who’s Leading the Charge?
N/AWed Jan 15 2025
In the vast Marvel multiverse, when the call to battle echoes, various heroes step up as tanks. These warriors, known as Vanguards, are essential to team success. NetEase Games launched Marvel Rivals with a decent variety of tanks, but there's room for more. Let’s dive into the best Vanguards in Marvel Rivals, ranked from top to bottom.
Doctor Strange stands out as the ultimate tank. With his mystical arts and weapons like Daggers of Denak and Maelstrom of Madness, he’s a force to reckon with. His Cloak of Levitation offers great mobility, and his unique Pentagram of Farallah portal can turn the tide of battles. Strange’s Shield of the Seraphim absorb 800 damage, making him perfect for rushing objectives while teammates attack.
Peni Parker, linked to her spider mech SP//dr, is another interesting Vanguard. Her primary fire is weak, but abilities like Cyber-Web Snare for control and Arachno-Mines for damage make her valuable. Her mobility with Cyber-Bond web shots lets her dive into fights and get out quickly, making her a popular pick against diving heroes.
Thor, though complex, was a season zero champ. Mastering his kit, including Thorforce and team buffs, makes him a strong rushdown tank. His ultimate is great for clearing points or finishing fights.
Magneto, the Master of Magnetism, excels in team play. His Metallic Curtain and Metal Bulwark shields protect allies, but his damage output is lower than others. His Meteor M ultimate is weak, but his shields make him a solid choice.
Bruce Banner/Hulk is a smashing force up close, and his zero-cooldown Incredible Leap-Indestructible Guard combo makes him a unique dive/off-tank.
Venom shines in offense. His web swings, self-healing, and tentacles for chasing make him great for diving. Groot uses walls to control chokes and deals damage with Vine Strike and Spore Bomb, gathering enemies for group damage.
Captain America, a brawler, needs a partner tank for effectiveness. His mobility isn’t great, but he fits well in certain compositions.
With each update, expect new heroes and info.
