Tragedy in Tumbler Ridge: A School Shooting Claims Ten Lives

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced that a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia has resulted in the deaths of ten people, including the suspected gunman. Six victims were found inside the school building. A seventh person died while being transported to a hospital. Two additional bodies were discovered at a nearby house that police suspect is linked to the incident. The RCMP described the event as an “active shooter” situation. They said the individual believed to be the gunman was found dead with a self-inflicted wound. Two people were air‑lifted to hospitals with serious injuries. About twenty‑five others are receiving treatment for less severe wounds at a local medical centre. All students and staff were evacuated safely. Police are working with the school district to reunite families in a coordinated effort.
