Gifford Pinchot National Forest, USASun Dec 29 2024
In the thick forests of Washington state, a tragic tale unfolded. Two Oregon men, aged 59 and 37, went missing after venturing into the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, about 150 miles northeast of Portland. They were on a mission to find Sasquatch, a legendary creature often associated with the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, they did not return from their Christmas Eve trip.
A family member raised the alarm at around 1 a. m. on Christmas Day. Authorities were quick to respond, deploying a significant search-and-rescue effort. This included 60 volunteers, canine units, drones, and ground teams. The Coast Guard even used infrared technology to scan from the air.
Sadly, the men were found deceased, deep in the forest. The Skamania County Sheriff's Office concluded that they probably died from exposure. The harsh weather and their lack of proper preparation likely played a crucial role in this tragic outcome.
The quest for Sasquatch, a creature of folklore, led these men into a dangerous situation. Their story serves as a stark reminder of the importance of being prepared and aware of the risks when venturing into remote, wild areas.
