Tragic Truck Collision in Israel: What We Know So Far
Tel Aviv, IsraelSun Oct 27 2024
Early Sunday morning, near Tel Aviv, a truck slammed into a bus full of passengers at a bus stop near the Glilot military base. Israel's emergency services are handling multiple casualties, with at least 35 people injured. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that civilians shot and neutralized the truck driver. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Hamas has taken responsibility for the attack, stating it was a response to Israeli actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. A video from the scene shows people trapped under the truck, with rescue workers trying to free them. Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency medical services, sent multiple teams to the scene to treat and evacuate the injured.
Separately, later on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces reported another attack. A person tried to run over soldiers with a vehicle and then attempted a stabbing, but was shot dead. No soldiers were injured in this incident.
